Flat Morgan traveled 320 miles to Grand Rapids, Michigan. She visited the Frederick Meijer Gardens and saw the Butterflies Are Blooming exhibit, which is the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibit in the whole United States. One butterfly flew right by Flat Morgan and almost landed on her.
Flat Morgan also visited John Ball Park where there is a zooand a sculpture of the Loch Ness Monster that is called “Nessie.”
Flat Morgan also got ice cream at Jersey Junction. Jersey Junction was started in 1963 byDoris Van Allsburg. Her son isChris Van Allsburg who wrote The Polar Express and Jumanji. Chris Van Allsburg was born in GrandRapids and raised in East Grand Rapids. Growing up, Chris used to mop the floors at Jersey Junction. He visited the store for the premier ofThe Polar Express movie and gave the ice cream store an autographedpolar express train, which is inside the shop. Flat Morgan’s friends (Keila, Ellery, Flat Keila and Flat Ellery) came withher to get ice cream!
